We have the right to become children of God. In Christ Jesus you are all sons of God. The spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. What kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God. And if children, then heirs-heirs of God.
And the list goes on and on, but today I want to talk about what it actually means to be a son or daughter of the most high God.
It is an unfortunate fact that when people discuss the topic of being a child of God it is coupled only with negativity and suffering, but the truth is as children of God we have the opportunity and special right to have an intimate relationship with God.
What is even more amazing is the fact that God wants to bless us. Just look at Adam and Eve, blessing them was the first thing God did for them. God also blessed Noah and his family, and how can’t I mention Abraham, he wasn’t even serving God when He told him that He wants to bless him.
So keeping in mind what we mentioned above, let’s have a look at three special rights we have as children of God.

God has a great plan for our lives. He decides where we will go (a.k.a Destiny), but it is our choice how we get there.
And there is a lot to choose from. Life, death, blessing or cursing, where we will spend eternity. We can even choose if we want to serve as John or Judas.
Whenever the thought crosses your mind that you don’t have the freedom to choose, always remember that it is a lie from the devil.
But what is most important is that God wants us to be free. God wanted a family, and therefore gave us free will.

All of us have something we’re afraid of. Sharks, the parliament, clowns, the clowns in parlaiment, commitment, Covid-19. And all of them are valid, but let me tell you a simple truth: You never have to fear again. Ever.
God didn’t give you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and on top of it a sound mind, filled with good thoughts, not thoughts of defeat. By faith, you are well able. You are anointed. You are equipped. You are empowered. Your thoughts are guided by God’s Word, every day. No obstacle can defeat you because your mind is programmed for victory.
God even goes as far as commanding us not to fear, why? Because he promised us that he is with us every breathing moment of each day!
An excellent example is Joshua, where he faced a mind boggling task of leading God’s nation into the promised land, full of giants and the unknown.
Just think of the amazing things Joshua had seen God do during his lifetime:
Part the Red Sea;
Destroy the Egyptian army;
Rain food from heaven daily;
Give water from a rock;
Protection from enemies;
Speak in a thundering voice from Mount Sinai;
Descend His presence into the Tabernacle;
Part the Jordan river.
Now look back on your life. The past few years, even this past week of lockdown. Can you see where the Hand of God has taken care of you? I can.
So take your stand. Never fear again.

We’ve just spoken about being free from fear, but how is having peace any different?
Having peace doesn’t come from the absence of trouble, it comes from the presence of God.
Not only does it transcend all understanding, it is the peace of God that guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
I heard someone say over the radio recently that we were made to know God. How do we then experience God’s presence?
It’s much simpler than you think, and luckily there are numerous places where God’s word provides us specific guidance on how to experience God’s presence.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and the full assurance that faith brings. If we come near to God, He will come near to us. To grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
Always remember there is nothing in all of creation that will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The closer we get to God, the more of his peace we can experience. God is inherently peaceful, and to appreciate God is to live in his peace.
Do not be anxious about anything, but let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.
When we grow in our understanding of the wisdom and surety of God’s love for us, our minds and spirits develop a restful faith of His power and grace. We begin to recognize that He truly will make all things work together for our good and that His purposes will be achieved.
